- This may be a goose chase, but...

- If you don't use WINS (you probably don't if nobody told you to enable it)
- be sure to disable WINS resolution for your TCP/IP Properties. (M$
- enables it by default) If you use DNS, which most every ISP in the world
- provides, but you leave WINS enabled, it will delay the connection time a
- bunch while it goes searching for something that doesn't exist. This
- doesn't explain why the problem only started after you moved to the new
- modem, but that's all I can think of that would delay your connect time by
- so much.

- Go to Control Panel.
- Open Network.
- Click on TCP/IP (the one for Dial-Up if you see more than one)
- Click the Properties button.
- Select the WINS Configuration panel.
- Click the "Disable WINS Resolution" radio-button.
- Click OK
- Click OK
- <let it do its thing and then restart>
